Renal:
Dr. Dulugos teaches histology early in the course. Learn it well! You’ll have a practical exam where you’ll rotate through
microscopes and ID the structures. For this module, the physiology and the diseases are a lot easier to understand if you have a
strong histology foundation.

Dr. Krasney is pretty good at explaining the physiology portion. It’s wise to go to his lectures and write lots of notes because
his notes are fairly scant. I thought BRS physiology was a good source. Other students found Constanzo physiology helpful, too.
Dr. Krasney gives out many practice exams so go through them early on.

Dr. Lohr teaches the clinical aspect of renal diseases. He’s not a very good lecturer and you might get frustrated when you hear
him lecture for the first time. After you get used to him and realize that his notes are well written, you’ll start to like
him.

The problem with Dr. Krasney is that the way the lectures are scheduled is that you get almost all physiology before the first exam, so you spend nearly 4 straight hours listening to renal physiology, which is, needless to say, hard to give your full attention to. I didn't discover BRS Physio until second year, and I think it would have been helpful. In GI, I had used Boron, which supplemented Dr. Duffy but wasn't so great here. This is the one module I wish I had bought the recommended text for (Renal Pathophysiology or something like that…by the time I realized it would have been useful, the course was at least half over).
Yup, Dr. Lohr is a nice guy, but pretty darn boring. He tries his hardest to make things simple, sometimes to the point of sacrificing a good explanation.
This module frustrated me at the time, but when some of the topics re-surfaced (diuretics and essential hypertension in cardio and metabolic acidosis in respiratory) I realized I may have actually learned a thing or 2.

You can not get any better advice than that. I think that the lectures w a review book would be sufficient to do well in the course.
